Oldham Prudential Building

The Prudential Assurance company is a big, international life insurance and financial services company that started way back in 1848 and is now based in London, England. Their Oldham branch, which was designed by Albert Waterhouse and opened in 1889, looks just like all the others. It was built to make people feel welcome and cozy when they came to use their services.

Throughout its history, the building has seen a lot of different things. Mainly, it was used by Prudential Assurance for most of the time, but it also had a few other uses. For a while, the basement was a nightclub called Holy City Zoo, and there was also a child care service run by the local government, Oldham Play Care Association, in the basement. The building was left empty around 2014 after the last Tennent moved out, and it slowly started to fall apart.

But, there's some good news! Plans have been made to fix up the building and turn it into something new and exciting. They want to restore it and make it a place where new businesses and communities can start. It's going to be a cool mix of old and new, bringing new life to this stunning piece of Victorian architecture.
