White Ash, Accrington
White Ash is a set of two culverts sections of the the Hyndburn Brook. The upstream infall begins as a small brick tunnel, with distinctive brick projections running along the sides, before a short section of modern concrete pipe leads into an older cut-stone tunnel. Emerging briefly into the open air, the route soon disappears underground again, with the water becoming progressively deeper as the culvert continues. The older sections once again feature the characteristic half-height brick projections, adding to the varied character of the passage before White Ash eventually meets the Hyndburn Brook.
