Supercharger A & B, Manchester
The “Supercharger A” and “Supercharger B” culverts are two connected underground sections of the Gore Brook beneath Longsight in Manchester, forming part of a long buried stretch of the stream as it passes through dense urban development. Built mainly from brick with some concrete sections—likely in the early 20th century—they were designed to manage drainage, prevent flooding, and integrate with sewer overflow systems. Supercharger A is relatively uniform and straightforward, while Supercharger B is more complex, featuring changes in construction, overflow chambers, and small waterfall-like drops.
